Make the Most of your local Playground in Steyne Park, Double Bay

In the surrounding areas of Bondi there are heaps of excellent parks for exercise and playgrounds that you can make into your own outdoor gym. You don’t need a gym membership or lots of expensive equipment to get a great workout.  Make the most of the time using the equipment in the park when your kids are playing at the Steyne Park playground in Double Bay. Try these exercises for a full body workout.

– Push up: Place your feet on the swing seat, hands on the ground in front in a plank position as per standard push up.

– Push up to Pike: Begin in the push up position (as above). Raise hips in a pike by bending at waist; keeping your legs straight and feet together. Keep legs straight and feet together.  Return back to start position and complete a push up.

– Lunges: Place back foot onto the swing seat.  Position yourself as per a standard lunge. Perform lunge taking note to keep weight on the heel of the front foot.

Steps/Benches

– Step up – Place one foot firmly on the step. Push through that foot until the leg is completely straight. Lower yourself down until the other foot lights touches the ground and repeat.

– Single leg squats. – Starting with one foot on the step and the other hanging off to the side. Lower into a squat position (hips back, chest up, flat back). Use arms to balance and lower as low as you can. Slowly return to start position and repeat.

– Box jumps –  Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.  Drop into a quarter squat, push through your feet and swing your arms to propel you forward and up onto the step.
