Tucked away in Caboolture is a beautiful place that is just perfect for fitness enthusiasts. Not only is there a huge netball centre, sports fields and recreational grounds, but there’s also a fabulous lake and fitness circuit. We headed out for a walk one Sunday afternoon and discovered a fun way to workout with the family.
Centenary Lakes has a 10,000 steps walking track, with various workout stations along the way. The fitness machines are great for breaking up your walk and getting some strength exercises in. Each station has two or three different exercises that you can do, ranging from shoulder press, to pull ups or sit ups and a even a cross trainer. The stations are spread out along the park so you can jog or walk between stations giving you the perfect opportunity to increase your fitness whilst watching the ducks swimming across the lake. I love that these exercise stations exist and it’s so much fun to see families playing on them not realizing that they’re exercising.
It’s a great way to keep your exercise routine fun and interesting in north Brisbane. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut, so mix it up by heading out to Centenary Lakes in Caboolture and get in a different type of workout. There are designated spots for weddings, Gas BBQs and plenty of benches, plus open areas for the kids to run around. It’s a really great site that would be a great spot for a family outing. Why not grab a pedometer or your fitbit and see how many steps you can do, and challenge yourself to do 60 seconds on each piece of exercise equipment as you go. Take the family and see who can do the most repetitions. Finish off with a picnic and relaxing in the park.
