St James Park – Hawthorn

St James Park HawthornSt James is a great little park to use for your training in South Melbourne. Not only is it a beautiful park, but it also has a great variety of inclines and surfaces – this means you can really mix your training up and keep it interesting. An easy jog around the oval will get you nice and warmed up and there is plenty of space around the edge of the oval itself to complete your dynamic or static stretches so you’re prepared for your main workout.  Once you’ve done your warm up there are a few options that we recommend depending on your level of fitness and your goals. There are plenty of little pockets of green space for you to complete boxing type drills or burpees and other explosive high intensity exercises.  There is also a great path that runs parallel to Burwood road which is a great gradient and length to do some hill running.  There is even a decent set of steps at the end to run up and down for those who want to push themselves a bit harder! If your training isn’t quite up to this level yet there is an opportunity to utilise the oval for some running, which you can break up with some core exercises and body weight type training. Of course our trainers have access to a whole heap of equipment which will make this much more enjoyable not to mention beneficial! After you’ve completed your work out  and cool down/stretches why not make time to watch a game of footy on the oval or pop up to the bowls club at the top of the park.
