The Mick Schamburg Park is a grassy headland that separates the north Burleigh and Miami beaches. The ocean front along North Burleigh Beach is a beautiful location, just minutes up the Esplanade or the Gold Coast Highway from the popular Burleigh Heads Beach. This area is a little bit quieter, and will give you just a little bit more space. The beach offers a patrolled section between the flags just in front of the North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club, while the beach front area has beautiful green grassy parks, with playgrounds for the kids, and a variety of fitness equipment for the adults and the walking and cycling trail running the length of the beach right down to Justin Park in Burleigh Heads and beyond.

High Intensity Workout

Mick Schamburg Park offers fantastic views up on top of the headland, you can look out to the sweeping beach views with the iconic Surfers Paradise skyline to the North, and the beautiful Burleigh Heads to the South.

Jog along the beach

Park in the car park next to the North Burleigh Life Saving Club and warm up with a short jog along the beach. Start out on the hard sand, and progressively make it more challenging by jogging into the deeper, soft sand. Jog all the way up to the headland, and then come up off the beach the grass.

There is a moderately steep hill up to the lookout at the top โ€“ catch your breath at the bottom of the slope, and then run up as fast as possible without stopping. At the top of the slope you will find a circular platform used for wedding ceremonies. Find a section of the platform wall that is the right height for you, and perform 10 step ups on each leg, followed by 10 push ups and 10 bench dips. Walk back down the slope, and then repeat three times.

Finishing Up

Once you have completed your slope activities, slowly jog back along the beach to your starting point, reducing your pace as you go.

Back at the grassy park beside the car park complete the session with some abdominal exercises. Find yourself a comfortable section of grass and lie down, perform 10 sit ups, 10 leg raises, 10 get ups and 10 bird-dogs. Repeat this series three times.
