After two sets of twins, Astrid has found a love for running and exercise, she has become addicted to medals, she has grand plans for the future, and she is feeling FIT – not FAT!
Two sets of twins later
Astrid’s body has been through a lot, she had two sets of twins in two years, and hadn’t really ever prioritised herself and her health. When her second set of twins were about to turn 10, Astrid decided that the ‘baby fat’ had to go. In combination with an indulgent trip to the US last Christmas, Astrid was feeling fat and not fit at all and realised it was time to start taking care of herself. Astrid joined Fitness Enhancement in January 2015, first doing our small Group Personal Training classes, and later on also one on one Personal Training once per week. It didn’t take long until she started seeing improvements in her fitness, Astrid now feels fit not fat!
Love/hate relationship
At first, Astrid’s goal was to lose weight and maybe start running, but she has since realised that her goal was more about claiming her life back, she didn’t feel healthy or happy but that has now completely changed. Since starting with her PT, her goals are now endless and growing every week. Astrid, like so many of us, has a love/hate relationship with running and training, she loves achieving her goals but gets frustrated when she can’t get it right. But she still keeps going because she has now seen the improvements that she gets from long-term training, and she loves the feeling when she is DONE, and the improved fitness you feel in the days to come. Her favourite exercises are running and boxing as she feels like they get her fit but also help with the mental health. However, she wouldn’t mind skipping the burpees (they sound terrible, and they ARE terrible).
Becoming a Runner
Not only is she feeling healthier and fitter, but Astrid has also become a runner and has already this year completed a 6 km run on the Great Ocean Road, 10 km in the Gold Coast Marathon series, 10 km Brisbane River Run, and 5 km in the Logan Running Festival. Astrid runs for medals and she admits to being addicted, she has a nice collection that will only grow. For the future, Astrid has planned a long list of goals; first of all she wants to run 5 km in 30 minutes (or less) which is planned to happen before the end of this year. Another big goal is to run a Half Marathon at Disneyland, a goal that makes her very happy thinking about it. Astrid wants to live an adventurous life, and now she feels like she can.
