Our CEO and founder, Scott Hunt, will be speaking at the Fitness Industry Expo in Sydney next week, across two sessions that closely reflect how he’s built the company over the last 27 years.
The first is around inclusion and diversity, and how we can get more people into fitness.
The fitness industry does a great job of marketing to get fit people fitter. But that’s not the vast majority of Australians, and it’s certainly not the majority of people who need the help of a fitness professional the most.
Our industry has so many great people with the skills and passion to help such a diverse range of people and abilities. Yet all too often, the marketing and social media can make the very people who need us most feel like fitness isn’t for them.
We’d already been helping people living with disability for decades through Fitness Enhancement. Creating Fit Your Ability, years after our NDIS registration, simply made it much clearer in our marketing who we could help.
The service didn’t suddenly change. The way people saw us did. And that has helped us reach and help far more people.

We might be a franchise group today, but we are still very much an independent operator.
Scott spent roughly the first half of his 27 years in business completely independent. His private equity was the $400 he had saved up!
For the second half, we’ve grown through franchising, but we’re still independent. Everything has been funded from the success of the business over the years. No investors, no board, no sell-outs. It’s his large family-owned business supporting small family-owned businesses.
So Scott is still very familiar with the headaches, risks and opportunities that come with owning an independent fitness business. He just gets to experience some of them on a much larger scale now, hence the invite to the Independent Operators panel.
