New Years Resolutions -weโve all been there. ย In fact, every year we spend a fleeting second there on 31st December each year around 10.30pm in a slightly tipsy and disoriented state, during a fleeting moment of โthereโs got to be more to life than thisโ.ย So we go to the common and socially accepted ideals of โdrink less, get fit, lose weight, call my parents moreโฆโ
All of a sudden itโs now February, youโre still recovering from Australia Day drinks, lamingtons and BBQโs.ย Your Mum is still leaving passive aggressive messages in your voicemail inbox about โit wouldnโt hurt to pick up the phone and call once in a whileโฆโ, and even the โJanuary was a test run, Iโll start again in Februaryโ has surpassed us, as weโre now well into the swing of the common theme that will now stick with us until the next time 31st December rolls around – โIโll start again on Mondayโ.
But itโs done now, and feeling guilty about it will only make you feel even more yuck, so letโs just go on another little journey for a minute.ย If you were your own high performance coach, would it be possible that the advice that you would give yourself might include getting some relevant and real guidance to take you from where youโre at right now to where you want to go?ย Someone who understands and respects you to assist in developing your very own specific goals, meaningful to you, measurable and achievable, realisticย for you and your life, with an actual date that we could totally achieve them by together?
By doing this, would it be totally possible that casual promises to yourself that youโre under no obligation to fulfil, become the thing that gets you jumping out of bed in the morning, excited to achieve and pumped to be alive?ย Ok, well maybe not on Mondays โ weโll start steady.
Youโve promised yourself for the last 5 โ 10 โ 20 years, more โ thatโs over 1000 Mondays!ย Whatโs harder, actually doing something to break the cycle, or being continually disheartened at the lack of results you continue to not achieve?
H
