As 2023 draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year and celebrate our achievements while considering how we can improve in 2024.
The fitness industry has seen its share of highs and lows, especially considering the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses. However, amidst the challenges, there is a sense of positivity and growth in 2023, setting the stage for an even more promising future. It’s heartening to witness the industry’s resilience and success stories, but it’s equally crucial to recognise the gaps that persist in making fitness accessible to all, particularly the 4.4 million Australians living with a disability.
Our commitment to making fitness inclusive for people of all abilities has been a driving force throughout the year. We’ve witnessed remarkable client achievements, a testament to the dedication of our team. As we look back on 2023, here are our top 9 achievements:
1. Fitness Franchise Group of the Year: We were named the Fitness Franchise Group of the Year! With over 60 fitness franchise groups in the country (of which we are the only NDIS registered one), we beat out other finalists such as Anytime Fitness, Jetts, Strong Pilates, and Vision PT to be crowned the best!
2. 10 Years in Franchising: Marking a decade in franchising, we have steadily grown to support our franchisees, staff, and clients over the long term, with our first franchisees still with us.
3. Franchisee Success: The majority of our franchisees achieved their goals, experiencing record growth and profits. They are on track to grow further in 2024.
4. Adelaide Expansion: We successfully launched in our eighth city, Adelaide, extending our reach to over 3000 suburbs.
5. New City on the Horizon: Our first location in our ninth city was sold, and details will be revealed early in 2024.
6. Record Sale: Our only franchisee to leave in 2023, Troy Symons, sold his location after 7 years of ownership for a record price.
7. Head Office Milestones: Significant milestones were reached in our head office, enhancing systems, support, and client acquisition for our franchisees.
8. Industry Contribution: Our CEO and founder, Scott Hunt, presented at various fitness industry conferences and spoke for AUSactive, our governing body, on fostering inclusivity for people with disabilities in our industry.
9. Personal Milestone: In a personal success, Scott Hunt is celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife Cathy. This milestone underscores the importance of a stable personal life in nurturing professional success and reflects the values that drive our organisation.
The only downside of 2023 was having to turn down clients due to being booked out or not yet servicing many suburbs around the country. This was particularly challenging for potential Fit Your Ability clients on the NDIS who normally don’t have any other options to exercise, so they’re on a waiting list until we’re able to help them.
While 2023 brought much success, the only downside was having to turn away clients due to high demand. For 2024, our goal is to ensure that no one in need is turned away. To achieve this, we need your support.
