What made this retail manager take the plunge into buying a fitness franchise?

Scott comes to Fitness Enhancement with decades of management experience, and as a mature age adult he also has a wealth of life experience.

Scott’s background is in retail, mostly in supermarkets in a variety of manager roles. Scott’s imgroles meant working long hours, missing out on time with his family and eventually, feeling like he wasn’t really passionate about his work.

As so many of us in fitness have found over the years, Scott discovered his passion lies in being able to help people. When he and his wife of 33 years made their sea change from Tasmania to the Sunshine Coast – he decided it was time for a career change too.

Knowing enough to know he needed help

As a guy with a LOT of experience working for big brand retail companies, Scott knew how much work was involved in running a successful business, and how much work is involved behind the scenes in things like marketing, market research, targeting the right audience and building a reputable brand. Scott knew enough to know that he needed some expertise to help him make his start as a fitness

imgbusiness owner. That’s when Scott started looking into buying a fitness franchise. With Fitness Enhancement He was able to get all the perks of being his own boss, but with less of the headaches, and so much assistance in getting his business started.

Hitting the ground running

Scott bought a franchise in such a popular area that he was able to hit the ground running with 3 staff on hand to take sessions for him, and a bunch of clients already lined up and raring to go! Another one of the benefits of owning a Fitness Enhancement franchise – a company who already has 20 years established in the industry,  is that we we already had a long list of enquiries and possible clients from his area that had reached out to us over the years, and we were able to line everything up so he could get started with a fully set up business. As a business owner with staff Scott has the freedom to take time off and have staff train clients whenever he likes, and the peace of mind to know that if he is injured or sick his business can continue running!

Adding NDIS to the list

The National Disability Scheme (NDIS) gives eligible participants living with a disability, funding to be able to work with a Personal Trainer. As Fitness Enhancement is an NDIS registered company this has opened up another avenue that Scott is super passionate about. Scott’s oldest son Nik has autism, his diagnosis and specific needs have given Scott and his wife many challenges over the years. He says “It’s amazing how many walls you have to walk through repeatedly to get help for Nik so he can live his best life, but the upside is I think it has made us more grateful for what we have in our life.” Having first hand experience dealing with all the barriers that a person with special needs can face, Scott is excited about the avenues that the NDIS has opened up. Scott and his team can now directly provide Training to people living with a disability to give them the opportunities and support they need to live a healthy and independent life.
