Weight Loss Success Story: How Personal Training Helped Change Belinda’s Life

Feeling ready to make a change

For Belinda, the decision to start personal training came from a very personal place. She knew her health needed to change. She described herself as feeling like a “walking heart attack” and knew she wanted to be there for her daughter as she grew up. Her daughter was only 16 at the time, and she wanted to see her grow up, graduate, get married and have children one day. That became a powerful reason to start looking after herself. She knew she needed to do something, and she did.

Not feeling comfortable in a public gym

When someone is carrying a lot of weight, going to a gym can feel intimidating. Belinda shared that she did not feel attractive and often felt like people were watching her wherever she went. Because of that, she knew she was never going to feel comfortable exercising in a public gym. For her to exercise consistently, she needed a space where she felt safe, private and not judged. Fitness Enhancement gave her that option. She started training in a private space where she could feel more comfortable. Having a friend train with her also helped her feel supported and less alone.

Supportive trainers who respected where she was starting

One of the things that helped her stay consistent was the support from her trainers. She said every trainer she had was supportive and respectful of what she could and could not do during each session. That mattered because when she first started, everyday movement was painful. She said she could not get out of bed and put her feet on the floor without crying from the pain. She could not touch her toes and found many movements difficult. Over time, with support and consistency, she began to do things she once thought were not possible.

Moving more and feeling stronger

Her progress was not just about losing weight. It was about what her body could do again. She became more mobile, more active and more confident in everyday life. She also learned that exercise did not have to be about being the fastest or doing the most repetitions. For her, it was about showing up, moving, getting her heart rate up and doing what she could. That mindset helped her keep going.

Losing 100 kilos and changing her life

Belinda went on to lose 100 kilos. But the biggest change was not only physical. It changed how she lived. Before, she did not want to go out in public. She hated shopping and felt uncomfortable going to events with her children because she worried she was an embarrassment to them. After her weight loss and fitness journey, that changed. She said she no longer cared about going out. She loved going places again. That is the kind of change that goes beyond the number on the scale.
