The holiday season with all its Christmas parties and other gatherings is here! It can be easy to neglect your health and fitness in the weeks leading up to Christmas, but even some little changes now can make a big difference later on in January. Follow these fit tips from our Trainers, to feel refreshed for the next decade!
1. Plan for a morning workout
If you leave it until the afternoon there is a big risk something else will take your focus and you will skip the training completely. Exercise first thing in the morning and you won’t have time to be tempted to skip it.
2. Drink heaps of water
(We know, this one basically belongs on any list in regards to health) If you are drinking enough water you won’t get those little cravings that are actually due to thirst, and when there are snacks around that are easy to continue to eat all day, you will not have room for them if your tummy is full of water!
3. Make a list
Make a list of the things that you commit to doing for your health before the holiday season starts, write them down, and put the list on the fridge (or bathroom mirror). That way you will see it every day and remind yourself of what you had planned for yourself. It will feel a lot better accomplishing these goals rather than failing. And don’t throw the list out before the holiday is over!
4. Book in with a trainer
If you know that you are not someone who will work out on your own, book in for sessions with your Personal Trainer. We have trainers working through the holiday season, so make sure you book in sessions and stick to the schedule.
5. The alcohol…
Remember that in every drink there are CALORIES. And it quickly adds up if you are drinking alcohol every day.
6. Stay active
Keep active at all times by planning for walks, beach volleyball, or a game of cricket. This is especially practical if you have kids, running around playing burns off all the excessive energy!
7. Remember to relax
Remember to relax, it is a holiday and after it you want to feel refreshed and recovered, and not completely run down. Eat well with a few extra treats, don’t overindulge on the alcohol, don’t make plans for every single day, sleep, read a book, and enjoy yourself.
