Fitness Enhancement Aspley is proud to introduce the latest addition to our team, Trainer Josh!
From surf life saving to Personal Training
Josh grew up in a small coastal town in NSW called Crescent Head. It was here that Josh developed his passion for health and fitness, learning to both swim and surf before he could walk!
By age 14, Josh already knew that he wanted to be a professional athlete and started competing in surf life saving at the highest levels. By age 16, he was competing in the Uncle Toby’s super series and spent up to 7 hours a day training to compete against the world had to offer. Josh maintained this grueling training schedule for 4 years… all while working a 40-hour week as an apprentice chef. Josh learnt the value of dedication, motivation and hard work early on in life.
Finding a new career
Josh enjoyed his training so much, that he knew that it was the industry he wanted to succeed in. So as his professional Iron man career wound down, Josh started studying to be a Personal Trainer so he could share his wealth of knowledge with other people looking to make a positive change to their quality of life.
“For me, training people isn’t a job. I love it far too much for it to be just a job!”
Back in NSW, Josh started his own Boot Camp business, which he was able to grow from just 5 people a session up to a minimum of 30 every session! As if that wasn’t enough, Josh became somewhat of a local legend after helping one of his clients lose a staggering 55kg in the space of a year.
Josh says:
“When we first started training, she came to me at just over 120kg and couldn’t walk a single lap of the block. We worked on her fitness, nutrition and most importantly, her motivation; and we were able to get her down to 65kg. That same client has maintained her weight loss and has just run her first half marathon!”
