Mermaid Beach workout

Mermaid Beach is a quiter, laid back beachside neighbourhood right next door to it’s bustling northern neighbour – Broadbeach, and just across the Gold Coast Highway from the recently updated Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. Mermaid Beach stretches from Alexandra Ave on the North end right down to Chairlift Ave at the south end – bordering on Miami High School.

Mermaid Beach Workout

Try this workout from our Mermaid Beach Personal Trainers – no equipment needed. Start by parking across from the Mermaid Beach Surf Club on Hedges Ave (AKA Millionaires row). Warm up with a short jog along the beach. Start out on the hard sand, and work your way up in intensity by jogging into the deeper, soft sand. Jog about 5 minutes one way, then turn around and head back. Your 10-minute jog should leave your pretty warm and heart rate high by the time you finish up in the soft sand!

Head up off the beach onto the grassy park area at Ken Mansbridge Park, here you’ll find some workout equipment which is where the strength training will happen.

Mermaid Beach Strength Training

Using the pull up bars you will start with

  • Pullups x 10 (jumping pull ups if you can’t do regular)
  • Hanging leg raises x10
  • Push ups on the low bar x10
  • Tricep dips on the low bar x10
  • Squat jumps x10

Repeat this circuit 1,2 or 3 times depending on your fitness level. Cool down by reversing the warm up jog, finishing off with a stretch back at the car park (or a swim if you’re hot!)
