David Fleay Wildlife Park/ Mangrove Walk with Stroller in Burleigh Heads

If you’re looking for a great walk around Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, where you can take your stroller, the Mangrove Walk around David Fleay Wildlife Park right on Tallebudgera Creek is a really pretty spot, with a nice wide boardwalk, and plenty of spots to stop for a quick workout. The boardwalk winds through the beautiful mangrove, where you will spot lots of wildlife including kingfishers, blue herons, ibis, lizards, crabs, fish and more. The open creek often has a nice breeze on a hot day, and the mangrove trees provide some shade, making this a great option for a hot/sunny day, or a little shelter from the rain if it’s drizzly.

Boardwalk in the Park

If you can spare 45 minutes try this for a quick stroller walk/workout.

The carpark for Park David Fleays wildlife Park is located just off West Burleigh Road, Burleigh Heads – just before the turn off to the M1 motorway. Park here and walk down the ramp to Tallebudgera Creek – there is a ramp to put in your paddle board or kayak and a nice park bench. Stop at the park bench – put the brakes on your stroller, and do 10 push ups followed by 10 bench dips. Turn around and head back through the carpark to entrance to the Wildlife Park and the Mangrove Walk.

Mangrove Walk

Take the ramp up to the Wildlife to get a quick incline and get the leg muscles burning. Stop at the top and perform 10 stroller pushes – pushing the stroller up the hill and contracting your chest and triceps. Turn around and perform 10 stroller pulls – letting the stroller roll down the slope, then pulling it back towards yourself, squeezing your back muscles. Take the ramp back down and head off along the Mangrove Walk.

Repeat On The Way Back

When you reach the lookout over Tallebudgera Creek, stop and perform 15 squats, rolling the stroller back and forth with each rep. Continue on along the boardwalk – you will go up a short hill, and through a fenced section, before you arrive at the first flight of stairs. If you did not have a stroller you could continue on all the way to Burleigh Heads National Park – but with the stroller, this is your turn around spot!

Repeat all the exercises once more on the way back to the carpark, – squats at the lookout, pushes and pulls on the ramp, and finishing off back at the end of the ramp doing your bench dips on the park bench.
