Book a Personal Training session with Mikey from the 1st of April
To be a great Personal Trainer you have to be dedicated to your clients, never take no for an answer, respect your clients, make exercise fun and put a smile on each clients face. We don’t discriminate here at Fitness Enhancement, so Mikey is the perfect addition to our team as of the 1st of April!
From puppy to Personal Trainer
Mikey was born and raised in the coffee capital of Australia – Melbourne. He has always been into fitness, he loves playing fetch, catching frisbees, chasing tennis balls, swimming in the lake at the dog park and long walks on the beach. Even as a young pup Mikey knew he was meant to help people – he is enthusiastic about health and fitness, and he wags his tail VERY hard when he hears you say ‘walk’. Mikey completed his Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness 3 years ago, and has been building his successful career in the fitness industry ever since. That’s 21 dog years of experience! He is a fantastic Trainer as he is full of energy, but also very compassionate and understanding, he loves all his clients unconditionally. No matter what kind of day you’ve had, he’s always happy to see you, and will greet you with a big sloppy kiss. It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you see his big smiling face.
Functional training
Mikey believes in a functional training approach, he especially likes to pull clients along behind him on the leash, but also incorporates all kinds of full body movements like having his clients throw sticks, running around in circles chasing shadows or those little red dots from laser pointers, and having his clients pull him back when he tries to inappropriately sniff other dogs. His favourite part of being a Personal Trainer is making people smile and playing fetch.
Five questions with Mikey
1. What is your biggest achievement as a Personal Trainer?
Making people feel happy when they’re having a bad day
2. What is your most memorable training session?
I was meeting a new client at their house for a Mobile Personal Training Session, and it turned out they had a cat. Well I just couldn’t help myself, I was barking like crazy, and then I spent half the session just chasing the thing up and down the yard until it finally ran up a tree where I couldn’t see it anymore. The clients had a great workout trying to catch me! Ha ha, good times.
3. What is your favourite exercise as a trainer?
A good old fashioned game of fetch with a nice solid stick
4. What is your favourite exercise or sport outside of work?
A good old fashioned game of fetch with a nice solid stick – let’s face it that’s just my favourite thing in general. Life = fetch.
5. What is your favourite quote?
“What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” —Dwight D. Eisenhower (34th President of the United States)
