NDIS Personal Training – the most rewarding career for PT’s

If you’re like most Trainers, you got into the fitness industry because you like to help people. You find it rewarding and motivating to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. If you love helping people then working with NDIS clients is going to be right up your alley. You’ll be helping some of the people in the community who benefit from exercise the most!

The NDIS, if you haven’t already heard, is the National Disability Insurance Scheme. People living with a disability who qualify, receive funding from the government for a wide variety of different products and services through registered NDIS providers. These services can include cleaning, cooking, taking someone shopping and other household services, but the main areas we provide are services in the health and fitness arena.

NDIS Personal Training

Some of our clients are looking for exercise for weight management, some use training to help improve their balance and coordination. We have clients who like to meet with a Trainer and just shoot some hoops at the basketball courts for improved self esteem and community participation. Some clients get taken for a walk or a bike ride. We can really provide any fitness service that suits the clients specific needs as long as they have funding approved.

There is no need for a Personal Trainer to hold any qualification higher than a Certificate 3 and 4 in fitness, just like you would always be able to work with low and moderate risk clients living with a disability, you can still provide that great service to an NDIS client – as long as you’re working within your scope of practice.

As always any high risk clients will be asked to get a medical clearance and perhaps advice from a more highly qualified allied health professional who can give us guidance as to how to proceed. But the majority of our NDIS clients can be trained just the same as every other client!

If you love to help people then we think you would be the perfect fit for working with our NDIS section! Check out our PT careers page to find out about getting a job with us or check out our PT business page to find out more about being your own boss.
