MARCHANT PARK CHERMSIDE
If ever there was a park designed with fitness in mind, this is it. Conveniently located on the border of Aspley and Chermside, just around the corner from the Chermside Westfields, Marchant Park is absolutely massive. Made up of not less than 7 cricket ovals, linked by scenic running tracks and a brand new multi-station fitness set up, Marchant Park all but eliminates the need for a gym!
So grab yourself a training partner, and put Marchant Park to good use with this routine.
- Person 1 will conduct 5 body weight squats followed by 5 push ups (knee push ups are fine if you’re not quiet ready for full push ups yet)
- While they do this, Person 2 will ‘rest’ in the plank position (think push up position but on forearms instead of hands)
- Once Person 1 finishes the squats and push ups, change postions so person 2 can conduct 5 squats and 5 push ups while person 1 has a ‘rest’ in the prone position.
- Keep rotating through this ADDING A REP each time through (6 squats, 6 push ups, ‘rest’ position, 7 squats, 7 push ups, ‘rest’ position)
- Once 1 person can no longer hold the plank position, or can no longer complete the prescribed amount of reps; take a 3 minute rest, have a drink water then start again from where you finished; only this time work your way back down to 5 squats and 5 push ups.
