Redland City's Newly-upgraded Park
This fully-fenced playground and neighborhood park is located at the entrance to the Waterline Estate in Thornlands, on the corner of Cleveland-Redland Bay Road and Waterline Boulevard, making it very accessible to everyone in Redland City. The lovely park recently received an upgrade during COVID-19 and now includes a fantastic, huge playground that includes sensory and all-abilities play and will keep the kids busy for hours! There is every facility for families and our neighbors of differing abilities.
The Redlands City Council installed state-of-the-art exercise equipment, literally better than most commercial gyms, everything you need to get a great whole body workout.
Warm-up
Let’s begin with your workout! Start with a warm-up to avoid muscle tension and increase your range of motion by walking briskly around the paved walking circuit while enjoying the green space surrounding you. Then, head over to the far shade structure where the workout equipment is and some covered seating and BBQ areas. The park is installed with great outdoor fitness pieces of sturdy equipment and can definitely hold up to all weather conditions.
Bodyweight Rows
You would be welcomed by some poster walls containing plenty of exercises suggestions you can do right there.
Letโs start with some bodyweight rows for our back, arms, and core. Grab a suspension trainer, one in each hand, facing the overhead bar, and follow the image on the side. Do 2 or 3 sets of 12 to 15 rows. Increase difficulty by sliding your feet closer to the bar.
To add some variety and for some fun challenge, keep using the suspension trainer to do 2 sets of lunges. Try 12 to 15 lunges per leg. Do one leg first, then the other. This will tone up your butt and legs while working your core and aiding fat loss and general conditioning.
Overhead Press/Pulldown
Next, this hydraulic overhead press/pulldown machine is awesome. The harder you apply force to it, the harder it works for you. This will ultimately work your back, shoulders, and arms. Do 2 or 3 sets of 8 to 10 press/pulls – a super effective workout on its own. Stand facing the machine with feet shoulder with apart. Grab the bar/handle slightly wider than your shoulder width. Press the bar up smoothly and then pull it back down to the starting position. Try for 2 or 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps.
Cool-down
That ends your all-fun and free-of-charge workout session! Be sure to cool off by walking twice around the walking track. Cooling down is very important to gradually recover to your regular heart rate and body relief and relaxation. Then grab the kids and head home.
This friendly nature-themed playground is loved not only by people from Thornlands but also by people from surrounding suburbs including Capalaba, Victoria Point, and Cleveland.
