Running Redcliffe

Fitness Enhancement Personal Trainers

If you’re looking for a new running route why not try the Ted Smout Bridge? With a dedicated pedestrian bridge overlooking the bay it is popular with runners, walkers and cyclists. The track is 3km each way connecting to the cycle paths leading to Woody Point and Brighton if you’re looking for a more challenging and longer route.  The track is a lovely and flat, with beautiful views across the Redcliffe Peninsula. The link up with the other footpaths makes it really easy to adjust your route as you see your fitness increasing. You might start with just the bridge, and add on more and more as you get fitter and faster. Here are a few tips for getting started in running:

1. Slow down. Run at a comfortable pace, if you can’t talk you’re going to fast. This will enable you to build up your endurance, and you can build your speed later.

2. Don’t be afraid to take walking breaks. Go at your own pace and don’t worry about what any one else is doing. As long as you’re out there putting the effort in, then you’re running and you’re a runner. The breaks will get less and less as your fitness increases.

3. Always remember safety first. Take your mobile phone, make sure someone knows where your going and when you’ll be back (roughly) and stay sun safe!
