Outdoor Fitness & Exercise at New Farm Park

New Farm Park is an active and healthy park for Brisbane. Do you think the playground and parks are only for kids? Think again! We came up with a plan you can do at your local park to get you ripped, tone and strong while getting your tan at the same time. Using gravity and your body weight as resistance can be just as effective as what you can do with any dumbbell, machine, or barbell.

Circuit 1

Dynamic warm up: jog around the park at a slow, relaxed pace for 5 to 10 minutes, then mix in some skips, butt kicks, walking lunges, arm circles and jumping jacks. What you need: A Park Bench

Reverse Lunge to Step-Up,  2 Rounds of 5 Reps Per Leg

Single-Leg Push-Up, 2 Rounds of 5 Reps Per Leg

Decline Knee Tap, 2 Rounds of 5 Reps Per Leg

Lateral Bound, 1 Round of 30 seconds

Brisbane Powerhouse, a fabulous relaxing location to unwind on a beautiful day

The historic Brisbane Powerhouse, situated right next to New Farm Park, which hosts live arts, weekend Jan Powers farmers markets and moonlight cinema (which is seasonal). New Farm Park has a variety of roses, flowering trees and amazing city views on a relaxing lawn of grass. Jacarandas cover the lawn where they are in luxurious purple in October. A good place for a quiet refuge from the bustle and business that is elsewhere in the city. From New Farm Park you do try the most scenic Brisbane Riverwalk to Captain Burke Park underneath the Story Bridge with the walk taking in some beautiful Brisbane sights such as the Goodwill Bridge, The Botanic Gardens and the Story Bridge.

The river walk is a great way to see the city, river & Story Bridge. The path is segregated so walkers & cyclists have their own lanes. Plenty of stops along the way to sit & rest & get some water.
