Peter Morris Park – Rothwell

Peter Morris Park is a hidden gem in Rothwell.  This park has a basket ball court, a colourful mural wall, and a shaded kids play area.  There is a large grassed area as well as BBQs and picnic area.

This park is my go-to for an outdoor workout.  I use the wall for wall sits, or medicine ball throws, there is plenty of room for sprints, the basketball court provides a nice even surface for abs and push ups… the possibilities are endless!

You could even set up your own bootcamp style circuit workout, grab a couple of mates and train together for extra motivation.  Choose around 6 exercises and perform each exercise for 30-40 seconds before moving on to the next exercise.  Make a competition out of it and see who can complete the most repetitions in that time.

The great thing about Peter Morris Park is that it is away from the main road, so it’s a nice private location, usually pretty quiet, and there are plenty of shady areas.

Why not organise a sports day with your friends, you could have a game of soccer or touch football, a picnic followed by a game of basketball or wall ball to finish of the afternoon.  The kids can burn off some energy, in a safe quiet environment, while you and your friends get a fun workout in.

For a great healthy picnic try making your own burger buns with chicken or turkey mince, some chicken skewers alternated with veggies and a huge salad on the side.  Bring some watermelon for desert and you’ve got yourself a super healthy day!

Make sure you have plenty of water on hand, you could even flavour the water with lemon, or some berries and mint, and don’t forget the hats and sunscreen!
