From Nutrition to Fitness
After completing her Bachelor degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in Chile, Francisca moved to Australia nine years ago. Starting her new life in Sydney, Francisca worked as a Nutritionist in a private hospital in North Sydney. She had always been interested in exercise and wanted to study something related to her other passion; sport and fitness. After working in the field of nutrition, Francisca had a realisation that fitness would be a great complementary area to study to deepen her knowledge. She also had a Personal Trainer of her own for a few years who helped to give her the final push towards becoming a Personal Trainer herself.
Becoming a Personal Trainer
Francisca grew up in a city called Curicó, located two hours south of Chile’s capital city of Santiago. Growing up, Francisca always used to look forward to PE classes and sports carnivals in school. She was a part of a gymnastics team at her school and also competed in various inter-school competitions. It was when she went to university to study nutrition, that she became highly interested in fitness and gym training. After settling in Australia and completing her certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness, Francisca started working as a Personal Trainer for Fitness Enhancement Bondi in Sydney. Although she loved her life in Sydney, Francisca recently moved to Gold Coast with her husband and transferred to work in our 100% private Personal Training studio. She also does mobile Personal Training sessions all over the city.
Biggest achievements
One of Francisca’s biggest achievements are moving to Australia away from her family and learning a whole new language from scratch. She also loves to see her clients accomplishments and being a part of their health and fitness journey. Francisca’s favourite training style includes circuits and high intensity and resistance training. She always aims to work the whole body with herself and with her Personal Training and Group Training clients. Francisca loves her life on the Gold Coast and enjoys helping people with their fitness and nutrition goals.
1.What is your biggest achievement as a Personal Trainer?
Seeing my clients achieving their fitness and nutritional goals. I have especially felt very proud when clients have smashed their goals related to once in a lifetime events. For example, achieving their fitness goals before their big day, that’s the best thing ever!
2.What is your most memorable training session?
I can’t pinpoint one memorable session since each session is different and enjoyable in its own special way. I really enjoy training group classes. I thrive seeing everyone pushing to their limits and go that little bit further and motivate each other. Such positive and contagious energy.
3.What is your favourite exercise as a trainer?
It has to be a tie between squats and deadlifts (and all their variations). I love these compound exercises as they work major muscles in the body and get you significant results when done correctly, so I always try to include them in all my sessions.
4.What is your favourite exercise or sport outside of work?
I love being active and outdoors, especially close to the ocean. I enjoy swimming and bike riding. Since moving to Australia, I have had no choice but to get into Rugby League and my all time favourite player is Johnathan Thurston.
5.What is your favourite quote?
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela
