While the Gold Coast Aquatic centre and Gym next door is a world class facility, why not enjoy the free facilities at the Broadwater Parklands Rockpools.ย  The kids can play in the life guarded shallow waters, while you give this simple fitness circuit a go.

Southport Rockpools circuit workout

Start where you like, all you need is a park bench, for our example weโ€™re in a shady spot just opposite Cafe Catalina.ย  But really you could be at any park anywhere in Australia for a simpleย routineย like this.ย  Walk a lap of the Rockpools, if itโ€™s a brisk walk itโ€™ll take you about 4 minutes as you can see from our map, if youโ€™re fitter run it and itโ€™ll take you about two minutes.ย  Either way itโ€™s about 360 metres with a couple of slopesย throughย the scenic andย meanderingย pathway.

Complete the session

When you get back to the start at the park bench near the playground and spider web climbing frame complete this circuit:

20 push ups with your hands on the table

20 squats with your bottom to the park bench each time

20 dips with your hands on theย park bench seat

20 assisted chin ups by using the spider netย playgroundย at about chest height

5 laps around the park

This basic circuit should take you about 10 minutes all up for each round if walking, and not taking breaks between each lots of 20 reps.ย  Repeat as many as you can, if youโ€™re new to exercise perhaps start with one circuit and increase by one a week until you get to 5. ย 5 circuits will give you almost twoย kilometers of walking and so much more than that from the strength circuit. ย 5 circuits is less than an hour while enjoying the great outdoors and setting a great example for the kids happily playing. ย When youโ€™re ready step it up to an even bigger lap around the Broadwater Parklands.
